Female figure linocut print linoleum block

$100
Female figure linoleum block art print, number 6 from an edition of 20.

This is one of five images in a series entitled The Girls of Summer. This piece was done from 5 hand-carved linoleum blocks, and printed using a small, hand-cranked press. Each block or "plate" is inked and run thru the press individually for each color, until all the colors have been printed. Depending on the weather, each color can take up to 2 weeks to dry.

Each print is hand-pulled by me. Because my linoleum block prints, etchings and aquatints are pulled by hand, each print varies slightly, in effect making each individual print an original, unlike a “reproduction”, where every print is exactly the same.

The image area is 3" x 5", printed on 7 1/2" x 7 1/2" BFK Rives archival printmaking paper, and is pencil-signed and numbered. I use professional grade Daniel Smith soy-based inks.

Unlike a reproduction (gicleé, offset, computer print-outs), this image was conceived and executed solely as a relief print — it is not a "reproduction" of an artwork originally created in another medium, such as a painting or a drawing. (Colors on your monitor may vary.)
